  Celebrating the Amazing JOE CARR!

In the heart of Richfield, there is a fabulous young man whose own heart shines bright with compassion, wisdom, and a sparkling dedication to helping make the world a better place for all. Joe Carr is a remarkable individual whose infectious smile and positive spirit have touched the lives of all that have had the pleasure of knowing him!

Joe lives with Spastic Quadriplegia Cerebral Palsy, but this hasn't dimmed his enthusiasm for life or his determination to give back to other people. Inspired by the support he received from Gillette Children's Hospital, Joe decided to create something special - Joe and Bill's Lemonade Stand, with the partnership of his long-time personal care attendant and paraprofessional, Bill Aberg. "I want to give back to Gillette because they have always been by my side, so I created a lemonade stand at my house for other Gillette patients!" Over the years, Joe & Bill's Lemonade Stand has built amazing momentum and become a treasured tradition in Richfield. This year marked its ninth successful run, raising an impressive $15,000, over $70,000 overall! The funds raised by Joe & Bill's Lemonade Stand supports Gillette Children's Adaptive Bike Fund that supports both children and adults. Joe himself is an avid bike rider, often spotted cruising around town, a testament to his love for riding and the full and rich life that Joe Carr lives. His disability does not define him, proving that everyone has the power to make a positive difference in the world!

Joe's positive impact reaches far beyond the lemonade stand; he often shares profound words that all should consider. "I am a human being with hopes, dreams, strengths, and the same desire for respect and understanding as everyone else," Joe shares. Every day, he lives life to the fullest, emphasizing, "Having a disability doesn't define my entire being. Yes, it is a part of me, but it's not the whole story. I am capable, I am strong, and I am proud of who I am." For Disability Pride Month, Joe encourages us all: "Let's commit to being allies and advocates. Let's speak out against discrimination and fight for accessibility in all areas of life - from education and employment to public spaces and beyond." His messages of strength echo the importance of adapting, the power of empathy, the importance of gratitude, and the beauty of self-love, reminding us to cherish each day and to find beauty in the little things.

  THANK YOU JOE!
